Nordic Skiing’s Best, Beach Edition

It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it. The Daily Skier went through the social media accounts of cross country skiing stars to report on who-spent-vacations-where.

We start with the Beach Edition. Because it’s not that often one gets to see the skiers down there.

A FIS World Cup winner of the last season Heidi Weng of Team Norge had some waves splashing done at the Patalavaca Beach, Gran Canaria.

The Team U.S.A leader and a double medal winner of the World Championships in Lahti Jessie Diggins stays – patriotically – at home – more specifically, at Oahu, Hawaii “We are getting a lot of memories from this vacation!!” says the caption. We take your word for that , Jessie!

A double silver medalist of the OG in Sochi Kerttu Niskanen of Finland chose to turn off location settings for “her beach” – perhaps, she does not want throngs of her fans to descend upon it, breaking the idyll!

Yulia Belorukova, a Russian silver medalist of Lahti in Team Sprint clearly knows the right direction. Must be the one that leads to the Pyeongchang Olympic victories, huh?!

Caterina Ganz’ biggest victories so far came at the regional Alpen Cup, but with the “battery recharge” at the Bahamas, a 22 year old Italian would surely aim higher next season.

Ganz’ fellow Squadre Italia racer Ilaria Debertolis would , likely, prefer to put the last season behind her, concentrating on the new one. We have been reliably told that the Melia Beach on the island of Bali, Indonesia, is the best place to get your zen back. Buona fortuna!
