Many people love cross-country skiing due to the intensity of the struggle, the clever tricks employed by the skiers, and the brutal exertion that goes on before your very eyes. Some fans, however, watch ski races to see the muscular, handsome athletes that are so iconic of the sport. Petter Northug, Dario Cologna, Teodor Peterson – all of them are well-known sex-symbols, but unfortunately, someday they’ll finish their careers. To make you feel a little better about that, we’ve compiled a list of the future hopefuls in the role, which we’re glad to present to you here:
21 y.o. Even Northug. Will he gain the love of supporters quite like the “original” Northug? We’ve yet to see. Even’s looks are almost like Petter’s. Results? Well, so far Even’s best place in World Cup is 8th. He hasn’t got any medals from Juniors and U23 World Championships, but he is a Northug, and fan-girls all around the world already noticed him a long time ago.
24 y.o. Russian Dmitry Rostovtsev is a member of the Russian National Team. After a successful Universiade, where he won 3 gold meals, he was invited to appear on Russian TV.
21 y.o curly-haired, blue-eyed blonde Swede, Marcus Grate is another deserved applicant for mass fan-girl support.
22 y.o. Frenchman Lucas Chanavat is known for his prowess in doing handstands in the most exotic places in the world – and posting it on his Instagram. Chanavat also happens to be a sprint world champion in the U23 age bracket and came 8th in the Sprint World Cup. Maybe he can steal from the Scandinavians both primacy in sprints, and the support of the fans?
Happy to keep the win from last year on the 200m race of the Cervino Nordic Rush ! 🇮🇹 Ending the winter by a victory is always a good way to finish the season ! Grazie to the World Champion @chiccopelle for the invitation ! It's always a nice show and a pleasure to come with my teammate @bapt_gros to compete with all the really strong athletes present there ! 📷: @flaviobecchis
Few are as used to bitter cold as 19 y.o Finn Santeri Pirneskoski who comes from Northern Lapland – the birthplace of Santa Claus and tough skiers. Pirneskoski competed at JWC in Soldier Hollow, in 2016, and came 3rd at the National Junior Championship.
