Gear News, Newsfeed, Trivia
Don't take the headline too literally. It's just our way to compile & present latest gear based on the "neweness" factor. But if you friends and strangers alike will effort to stop you on a trail to ask where got that totally cool item - don't blame us! Oh - and you won't see prices and helpful links to re-sellers' websites. Some of these items are "pro-athletes only"" so far, others are already on sale but you'd have to search & inquire. [caption id="attachment_9945" align="aligncenter" width="1920"] The most visually novel item in the whole of cross-country skiing gear world this season thus far: Madshus Redline 2.0 shown here in their Skate iteration. Those are already on sale in limited quantities - check with your local dealer [/caption] [caption id="attachment_9946" align="aligncenter"…

Hans Hubinger , Legendary Designer Of Fischer Skis, Recommends

Gear News, Leaders, Newsfeed
Hans Hubinger is a legend. The only reason he's not a household name compared to, say, Marit Bjorgen or Dario Cologna, is the fact that in skiing names of equipment designers are not very well published & advertized. Something to learn from Formula 1 here, really. Anyway, we are here to fill that gap. Here's Hans' ( very abridged) resume: - Bridge-building engineer by training, has joined Fischer Sports in 1986. Yes, folks – that's 32 years ago! - Had participated in pretty much every Fischer skis' development & design including such masterpieces ahead of its time as Fischer Revolution of 1990s - Originator and chief designer of Speedmax and its Cold Base Bonding technology. BTW, Bjorgen and Cologna mentioned above won most their golds on Speedmaxes. [caption id="attachment_9222" align="aligncenter"…

New Equipment Seen At World Cup In Davos

Gear News, Newsfeed
You might be excused in your thinking that FIS World Cup stage is about race results and points earned. The way we see it, it is as much about newest equipment and/or new ski related fashion promoted by the world's best athletes. And the most attractive ones too. This is a Part 2 of the conversation with Andreas Bennert, the man who made his mark in winter sports with One Way and now goes on with his new brand, 4KAAD - 4KAAD - where does it come from, who's behind it and how is it going to be different from One Way? - 4KAAD is actually the name of the production holding in China. Already 2015 we decided to register the name as a trademark and offer waterproof bags under the own brand to the markets beside all other private labels. During summer 2018 we decided to use our knowledge and technology to boost 4KAAD into the cross country ski poles business as well. From this fall we have been introducing the XC collection build on new standards…

Andreas Bennert On His One Way Past, 4KAAD Future & Everything In Between

Gear News, Leaders, Newsfeed
The great sport of cross country skiing is suffering from the lack of personalization. No, the names of great athletes are known & are being talked about. But who are the people who make it all happen, who run the show? Industrialists and equipment designers, coaches and doctors, waxers and competition officials? Very little info is available and interviews with them are even rarer - we dare you to prove the opposite. On our part, we strongly argue that in this century everything is personal and reflects beliefs and ideas of specific people. And yes, it needs to be a public knowledge. Right, Elon Musk? ... Today we introduce the man who for ( almost) 15 years often went against the grain, the man who's impact on the winter sports…
