Rollerski Manufacturers Reveal Truth About Ball Bearings

Gear News, Newsfeed
Manufacturers today offer a vast choice of rollerskis to suit any taste and purse. Relative advantages of aluminum frames vs carbon laminated vs carbon monocoque are hotly debated. Ditto for rubber vs PU wheels. There is one thing, however, that all modern rollerskis have in common – ball-bearings. The 608 series ball-bearings are de-facto standard for all “summer skis” ( and beyond). We reached to several leading rollerski producers with two questions; 1. what ball-bearings do you use in production of your rollerskis and based on what criteria did you choose them over the others? 2. in the ideal world, when/if money is not an object, what ball-bearings would you recommend? Marcos Ruperez, Quionne 1. We use reliable bearings with no matter that much about velocity. Why? because what is…

...Which pair of rollerskis has the most striking looks? Not weight, balance, performance – those things are not immediately obvious – just looks? Here at the Daily Skier we vote for Quionne Carbon Fiber. Amazing piece of carbon fiber monocoque, looking somehow more like a powerful bow than rollerski. A total keeper, looks-wise! But is there a substance to go with that chiseled form? We got in touch with Marcos Rupérez, Quionne Tech S.L. co-founder/co-owner. And guess what? - contrary to expectations, our conversation went all about the substance – never the looks, never that Oomph! factor. This is a second part of conversation with Jorge Vidal, founder of  Bonés Skiroll , where we talk about what it takes to build the brand from scratch and where the whole rollerski industry is going. - What's your main development goal as a company, what' that niche on the market you're aiming to take? - Our core business is recreational use, aimed at people who are making transition from other sports like cycling, trail running or ski mountaineering, the people who want hard workout that does not impact joints. We know a lot about that, about the feeling you have when you start and what you need, because we are beginners too. If you focus too much on professional use, saying things like “best rollerskis in the world”, it…

There Will Be Bonés: Introducing Producer With Original Market Philosophy

Gear News, Newsfeed
Rollerski market is a very dynamic one - popularity of “skis of wheels” spreads, more people in more countries are starting to use them for sport and recreation. To meet a growing – and diversifying – demand, more rollerski designers & producers step in, including those from countries where rollerskiing was previously unheard of. We continue introducing rollerskiing brands (and their creations) here at the Daily Skier. Today we talk to founder and owner of Bonés Skiroll, Spain - Jorge Vidal. Our conversation went long and we found it to be so interesting that a decision was taken to split the story into two parts. Part 1 deals with the brand creation and objectives achieved – while part two addresses the issues that we consider to be the most important:…
