Leaders, Newsfeed
Traditionalists would shake their heads. Purists gonna scowl. But the shortest skiing distance competition is here and it now has its own series. The race in Swedish Östersund on Saturday kicks off the World Sprint Series by the end of which next April the planet will know the name of its fastest skier on a 100 meter supersprint. [caption id="attachment_13624" align="alignnone" width="1920"] Ludvig " Ludde" Jensen is a man who probably did the most to popularize ski supersrint by developing distinct skiing technique on the tracks and being overall charmer outside of them[/caption] ..we sit at the race office of possibly the world's swankiest ski & biathlon stadium with the event organizer Ante Andersson. Totally rebuilt for this year's IBU Biathlon Championships, Östersund Skidstadion is to host the first ever…

That Is How Many Collabs Klaebo Did This Year – And Why His Are Of Totally Novel Kind

There is nobody like Johannes Høsflot Klaebo. Never was in the history of skiing. Ans we are not talking his crazy Olympic and world titles' count for a guy aged only 23. We are talking about his mass appeal. The world did know popular skiers but it would be fair to say that nobody, not even Therese Johaug or Petter Northug, could be compared in volume of buzz that surrounds the skiing's youngest Olympic champion. And that buzz has quite a material side. Since the end of the last season a 23 year old Norwegian super star: - launched Hufs hair product line https://www.instagram.com/p/BzqfQflBEmI/ - became a face of Abilica training equipment line https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5ITHvImHIY&list=PLXmLfJZ3LlLXgPyBRufdjiB1veqJU6Xuw - continued his cooperation with international giant Hoka One One [caption id="attachment_13537" align="alignnone" width="1080"] Clifton 6…

Gear News, Leaders, Newsfeed
..."We would only have a few minutes to say hello and for a few basic questions", messages the man who runs Salomon Nordic when we agree to meet at Atomic/ Amer Sports factory in Altenmarkt in Pongau where the French company produces its cross country skis. ....After an hour of ( very intense) conversation that covers just about every aspect of Salomon business in & around skiing , the conversation that several other staffers, responsible for race skis eventially join in, Nicolas Stamos finally says that the meeting he was actually coming for can't be delayed no more... Which is a massive pity - what Stamos & his team have managed to achieve in the last decade is nothing short of fascinating. But now everything makes perfect sense: they are…

Natalia Nepryaeva Becomes Chairwoman Of Regional Ski Association

Leaders, Newsfeed
#2 in the last season's FIS World Cup standings got an interesting additional role in her life and career. Natalia Nepryaeva was elected today a chairman of the regional ski association ( the Russians call them "regional federations" ) in her native Tver in a highly unusual move that we assess as both positive and promising. Tver is a region of some 1.3 million people and long established skiing traditions. To put it in perspective, Alex Bolshunov being born in Bryansk is quite a bit of a fluke - Nepryaeva coming from Tver is something to be expected. Traditionally, a title of the regional association boss went to either well-respected coach or top local ski philanthropist. In other words, somebody with a lot of experience and gravitas. The things started…

1100 Hours Man Iivo Niskanen

1100 hours in preparation for the season 2019/2020! That's how many hours of training Iivo Niskanen bagged, according to Iltalehti newspaper . No wonder the Finnish Red Bull looked so tired the last time our camera lense caught him -that was at the Blink Skifest in August. Even some teammates , according to Iltalehti, call that amount " masochistic ". Martin Sundby had reportedly done even more, around 1200 hours training a couple of seasons ago - be he has gone down to under 1000 hours recently, by his own admission.
