Martin Sundby reveals what he considers to be the Golden Age of cross country skiing - and how to bring it back " Cross-country skiing was worth the most in Kroner ( i.e. in money) and in viewership at the time when Tobias Angerer, René Sommerfeldt and Axel Teichmann were grabbing the podiums. Then the international cross-country had a great time" https://www.instagram.com/p/BRnkfYCF7vN In interview with a Norwegian Dagbladet a 33 year old World Cup winner makes no bones about what would need to be done to bring that blessed time back: "The cross country skiing had a great position when Germany was on the top. The best thing that could happen now would be a German winning the World Cup . XC Skiing Is More Appealing Than Alpine, Snowboarding – New Study

Money & Finance, Newsfeed
Cross-country skiing is becoming a trendy sport - so much so that it's beating in appeal both of its richer brothers, Alpine skiiing and snowboarding. Those are the findings of the just-released study of attitudes of Germans towards winter sports by Kantar TNS, a market research company. 35 million of Germans or 51% of the adult population, have interest in cross country skiing, compared to 50% in Alpine skiing and 40% in snowboarding. Which is quite shocking given how much more money both downhill sports currently generate compared to cross country skiing. Yet there are strong reasons to think, according to Kantar TNS, that cross country skiing is about…

For some reason, it was much easier to deal with Emil Iversen and I've got no less than 15 toasts done before he finally crashed into my knife. Petter Northug was not present but then I did not really expect him to turn up. A vivid dream after watching too much of Beitostølen ski racing? Nope, an online game the supermarket chain SPAR Norge running off its website since 2015 ( sorry, I know that I should have been able to butter those toasts better by now) Norwegian skiing might be a tad down after the recent doping cases of Sundby and Johaug –…
