We are a sports publication and intend to stay clear from whatever political stories - that's not what you expect here, anyhow. However, when the story is so big that the stars of the Nordic start to reflect upon the events unfolding, we can't quite stay away and offer a gist of what was said by them in the last few days: Jessica Diggins was born in Minneapolis-St. Paul and was supposed to become the face of the first-ever Minneapolis FIS World Cup event. Alas, that one was cancelled at the last possible moment and Minneapolis 2020 shall be remembered for entirely different reasons. Given, Diggins is the only true star the US xcskiing got, she gets national media attention and is fully aware that her every word in the…

Two kings of cross country skiing, leaving lasting effect on fans' memories. The hyper-meticulous in his preparations Swede vs...well, you all read his book so you already know how the Norwegian was at times preparing for his. If only we could see them compete against each other! Well, guess what? We could. Soon! Landskampen is back. The first season's featured two countries' best skiers and biathletes and was loved by the public. Yes, the Landskampen viewership figures beat those of all but the most popular actual skiing races. Yuri Charkovsky most likely is the busiest man in the international cross-country skiing world. [caption id="attachment_15861" align="alignnone" width="1920"] Yelena Vyalbe and Yuri Charkovsky form a rock-solid team. Charkovsky is used to be Vyalbe's coach in 1990s and for the last decade is Vyalbe's closest partner and confidant [/caption] As a manager of the world largest team (the Russians have 40 skiers in the national squad plus roughly equal amount of coaches & support personel) he is in charge of all the logistics. As the de-facto team captain he's present on most of the race-related meetings with the FIS & local organizers. As a coach with decades on international experience ,he is involved in mentoring athletes. And when all of the above is said and done, he's doing media interviews (Charkovsky's…
