Max Volkov, ex-assistant coach of Yuri Borodavko at Team Russia, will coach the Chinese national team. Volkov is well known in the international skiing circles - not the least as a " Voice of Bolshunov " as he was often seen helping media to interpret for the Russian great ( who consistently refuses to learn English). No Fans At Oberstdorf 2021 After All

They've tried valiantly - look at the picture we illustrate this story with: see how wide apart the seats are arranged at the Oberstdorf Reid Ski Stadium? Should say " were" : the decision was announced on Tuesday afternoon and the Nordic World Ski Championships 2021 will take place without spectators present. Covid won't loose its grip on Germany, the country politicians discuss even more severe tightening of already tough lockdown. In this situation it was, probably, the only outcome - even if the championships is still 5 weeks to go.

Sergey Ustiugov & Last Chance Saloon For Oberstdorf

Leaders, Newsfeed
It was Sergey Ustiugov 's last chance to jump on a wagon, departing for Oberstdorf 2021 - and he used it with his customary flair. The world's best skier of 2016/17 had an exceptionally rough season thus far: bad case of Covid hit him in October in altitude camp in Italy and, unlike many other skiers, the Russian Bear wasn't lucky enough to recover quickly. On Thursday the 28 year old convincingly…

The last weekend a 20 year old caused quite a sensation finishing at first 18th in Sprint - then 8th in 10k F on Sunday. Just a few seconds behind Jessie Diggins and outpacing too many really strong athletes to count! We think the star is born - clearly, augmented in that status by the fact that Patricija is from the country that never before produced the skiers of that level ( although several strong biathletes!). Instead of doing a traditional interview, we've asked Patty to write a bit of autobiography so far, stressing what she herself…

Slutt For Norge. Well, At Least For Now

Norwegian ski association won't send its teams for the races in the next few weeks. That means that the FIS World Cup races in Davos , Dresden and the entire Tour de Ski shall take place without the strongest team participating. Says team manager Espen Bjervig: "In addition to the risk of traveling, we have experienced that keeping a distance and avoiding close contact in the World Cup arena is more demanding than we first assumed. Endurance athletes have their lungs as a tool, and we do not know the after-effects of Covid-19. Therefore, we must take precautions" Interestingly, the British national team , that is more or less permanently based in Norway and is coached by the Norwegians Jostein Vinjerui and Hans Kristian Stadheim are on their way to…
