With La Transju, Tartu Ski Marathon and Finlandia-Hiihto to name but a few cancelled due to the lack of snow and Vasaloppet teetering on the brink of cancellation, we revisit a unique project by Finnish engineers: Kontiolahti cooled snow track. To be clear: not in our wildest dreams do we see an entire length of Vasaloppet being dug up to install Freezium-running pipes. But 10, perhaps 15k loop? Why not? Seems to be entirely technically possible but way, way to expensive. Still, there is a hope.
