Fischer Answers Questions About Speedmax 3D With Gliding Walls

Gear News, Newsfeed
First rule of Marketing 101, Edition 2019 : if you want people to notice – you gotta make it controversial to get a conversation going. Conversely, Fischer Nordic is one company in cross country skiing business that does not seem to subscribe to that philosophy. As an undisputed segment market leader they feel , perhaps, that there is enough buzz around their brand as is. Yet it's Fischer's just-revealed Speedmax 3D technology that generates a lion share of discussions among skiing enthusiasts, fans and athletes themselves in the recent weeks. What do waxing sidewalls of racing skis give? Little wonder that Dailyskier.com first pit-stop at ISPO this year was the Fischer stand – and a conversation on a subject with Tanja Winterhalder. [caption id="attachment_10176" align="aligncenter" width="1711"] Tanja Winterhalder: "Yes, I…

Fischer Officially Reveals Speedmax 3D Tech – Yes , It’s About Waxable Sidewalls

Gear News, Newsfeed
...The Russians have a good saying: Everything new is actually well-forgotten old. Three days ahead of the official presentation at ISPO-2019, Fischer Nordic confirms rumors swirling around for quite some time: we are back to waxable sidewalls. To quote the official press-release: "...Sometimes history is decided by a hundredth of a second. With this in mind, the Fischer product team developed the Speedmax 3D with Gliding Sidewall. Designed to reduce friction resistance that robs competitors of time and speed, the material can actually be waxed to support unheard levels of glide..." For those who unremembers no longer: waxing sidewalls was a popular thing in early to mid-1990s but then it gradually faded away. 25 years later it's back on a new technological level - or so the world leader in…

Gear News, Newsfeed
We feel it is our sacred duty to keep you abreast with latest fashion trends in cross country skiing. Let us leave you in no doubt whatsoever: overboots are all the rage on Alpine resorts frequented by the world's top skiers this time of the year. Most photos were taken at/around the recent FIS World Cup event in Davos where it was circa minus 12 Celsius. Looking through pictures it became obvious that while men seems to shunning them overboots, ladies embraces them readily. A case in point: Another thing you will notice looking at the pictures: Alpina, Fischer and Rossignol boot owners opt for overboots while Salomon, Atomic and Madshus athletes don't use them in these conditions ( and, therefore, are not shown). Coincidence or are the latter one…

Hans Hubinger , Legendary Designer Of Fischer Skis, Recommends

Gear News, Leaders, Newsfeed
Hans Hubinger is a legend. The only reason he's not a household name compared to, say, Marit Bjorgen or Dario Cologna, is the fact that in skiing names of equipment designers are not very well published & advertized. Something to learn from Formula 1 here, really. Anyway, we are here to fill that gap. Here's Hans' ( very abridged) resume: - Bridge-building engineer by training, has joined Fischer Sports in 1986. Yes, folks – that's 32 years ago! - Had participated in pretty much every Fischer skis' development & design including such masterpieces ahead of its time as Fischer Revolution of 1990s - Originator and chief designer of Speedmax and its Cold Base Bonding technology. BTW, Bjorgen and Cologna mentioned above won most their golds on Speedmaxes. [caption id="attachment_9222" align="aligncenter"…
