Small Step For Andrew Musgrave – Giant Leap For British Skiing

..and not just British. Not a huge secret that with Alex Harvey retiring , medal prospects of the English-speaking xcski world looked very dim. At least in men's skiing. It seems, the torch of the world champ Harvey is now in the hands of the man widely expected to be his successor: British-born, Norway-based Andrew Musgrave. ....who himself in post-race interview made light of his 60k C victory at the Blink Skifest today. " The real challenging races are those in the winter". We appreciate "Muzzy" as he's widely known, modesty, but venture that the victories in the company of reigning world and Olympic champions and medalists can't be " not a big deal" . The cross country world now officially has a strong medal contender and, hopefully, big-time influencer…

Ultimate Rollerski Helmet?

The cerebellum, as we all remember from the school course of anatomy, is a part of the brain that contributes to coordination, precision, and sense of accurate timing. New Briko Cerebellum One helmet also contributes - a lot. It comes with its own microprocessor that onworks data from an incorporated radar, 2 (two!) front and one rear Full HD video cameras, a GPS sensor and a gyroscope. It also features temperature and sweat sensors the job of which is to warn you of dangerous dehydration. It will also call & message emergency services in case of crash or collision. Did we forget anything? Oh, and the price of this techno-marvel is expected to be just shy of 500 euros. Yes, we know, we know - the good people from Briko…

Yeezys And Speedmaxes Or How To Make Skiing Cool

Money & Finance, Newsfeed
A picture is worth a thousand words. Especially when you're talking a thousand dollar item. The gentleman on the left - let's call him Ola for the sake of argument - is sporting Yeezys. Our "Yeezyxperts" are telling us that the model is, most likely, Boost 350 V2 Core Black Red. Google be your friend if you want to know how much they retail for - and be prepared for your jaw to drop. However, price in itself is not the point. The point is that they make one look cool in the eyes of one's peers. Especially if one belongs to Gen Z. Huff and puff all you like if you disagree - but that's how the world works for the last circa 5000 years ( and possibly much…

Thus Trained Bolshunov This Morning…

Leaders, Newsfeed
Here's this morning's training regimen of the world's leading distance skier: - 1h15m road bike - 1:15 classic rollerskis on dedicated rollerski track i.e. with uphills/downhillls - 1:15 skating rollerskis on the same track - 1:15 trail running, medium to hard terrain For the total of 5 hours. No pauses between sessions , maximum fast equipment swap. All in 1-2 pulse zone ( but to a casual observer it honestly looks like a competition tempo, especially on classic rolllerskis). There is obviously a second training session of the day after lunch and, possibly, a warm-down job in the evening. To be clear, the rest of Yuri Borodavko' s training group did exactly same - we single out Bolshunov for obvious reasons that he's the most successful in the group in…

How Rossignol Skis Are Made At Racing Workshop

Gear News, Newsfeed
See those three smiling gentlemen in our top photo? Richard Gueraud-Pinet on the right is a Master skimaker at Rossignol experimental factory - sorry, racing workshop at Saint Jean de Moirans. Simon Caprini in the middle is the guy who makes sure that the right skis are chosen, tested and prepared for the race ( working with team waxers, of course). Finally, the job of the guy on the left is to win races on those skis - his name is Alexander Bolshunov and at 22 he's exceptionally good at that! Today Bolshunov is to produce his very own skis - that's the Rossignol's tradition reserved for the best of athletes competing on the skis from Isere. And we shall follow his progress  showing you how it's done - and…
