Meet Those Who Go Against The Grain. At Least When It Comes To Choosing Skis

We all know that this century all podiums at the World Cup/World Championships are being won on Fischer, Atomic, Rossignol, Madshus or Salomon ( collectively known as FARMS) skis. But some athletes go against the grain and use even in those august competitions the skis being made by the other manufacturers. One thing strikes us as a bit odd: male skiers are very traditional while female ones are much more open to experimenting. At least when it comes to choosing their skis. Here's another proof that the august sport of cross country skiing is experiencing a massive revival: Yet another ski manufacturer is about to come on the market: Austrian Kästle Ski is getting into the game. Kästle is a huge name in downhill skiing , associated with such greats as Pirmin Zurbriggen and Kjetil Andre Aamodt. It used to produce cross country skis too, models RX and CX were quite popular especially with Nordic combined and biathlon folk back in 1970s - but the production of narrow skis has long ceased.
