Skiing Siblings

Leaders, Newsfeed, Trivia
Yes, cross country skiing is a “siblings' sport”. You all have heard about, read and watched on the trail the trio of Northug brothers, Kerttu and Iivo Niskanen, Dario and Gianluca Cologna – the list goes on. Today we take a look at the less known – but up-and-coming siblings in our sport. Anna and Karl-Johan Dyvik (24 and 23 y.o.), Sweden. Initially, it was Karl-Johan, who has shown more promise on the trail, attracting attention of the Sveriges trupp management. However, it was Anna who twice won U23-championship, took part in Lahti-2017 and now prepares for Olympic season in the A-trupp Sverige. https://www.instagram.com/p/BDqeVPnkLim/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BHrVo-JhxTL/ Jennie, Simon and Filip Oeberg (28, 23, 17 y.o.), Sweden. Another Top Five List

I would like to follow up on this story Everybody has his or her own list of Top Five to Watch – here's mine . No one on that list is the world's top Nordic skier – not yet, at least. But all sure train hard to become and already have much to show for it. And as of justification for looking at their social network photos ( if anybody needs to have one) – here it is: cross country skiers have some of the best bodies in the world. They are strong, healthy and a great pleasure to look at. I had a privilege to run in the same race as two of the people mentioned on this list – can tell you, photos do little justice to their…

Devices And Gadgets We’d Love To Have – But Can’t As Yet

Gear News, Money & Finance, Newsfeed
Cross country skiing is a technical sport where both the results and the fun of participating benefits hugely from advances of technology ( unless you're a die-hard retro race fan). Sadly, the size of the market for cross country skiing is a shadow of its fancy cousin, alpine skiing – and much smaller than, say, running or biking. Which means the innovations are headed first to them, where the fatter profits are to be made. Let's take a look at some of the latest – and dream that one day we, "the real skiers", could get similar. 1/Recon Snow2 Manufacturer says: A powerful omnifuncional computer in compact form and heads-up display, that attaches inside an alpine ski helmet and projects the data direct-to-eye, in real time. What is that we like so much about watching sports? National pride? Sure. Maximum exertion needed to win? Check. Seamless, smooth technique that comes from a combo of talent and thousands of hours of practice? Sure, check, Gorgeous athletic bodies on display? Check, check, check! It's tough to be a sports star these days. Just winning is not enough – you have to have a persona that media loves (or loves to hate), and you have to relentlessly work on developing and nurturing a fan base on social media platforms. In return…

Professional skiers don't just compete, win and train; they are also normal people. They have friends and relatives, fall in love, and spend free time with their folks. Often, skiers find a relationship right here, in a sporty environment. Here are several examples of elite skiers’ families: The most recognizable and famous pair is that of Swedes Anna Haag (an Olympic Champion) and Emil Joensson (3-time World Sprint Cup winner). Last summer, at Haag’s birthday, Joensson proposed to her, and she agreed. The wedding will take place the next year, after the Olympic Games in South Korea, because the 2017/18 season will be very tough and important. Anna and Emil have been together since 2008. Now they live in their own house in Oestersund. https://www.instagram.com/p/BPV3zqNF_mN/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BKIC6FxBufN/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BUj5GJXFwx9/ One of the…
