Klaebo And Karlsson Generate Most Interest. How Come We Are Not Surprised?

...once athletes entered the room, reporters did what reporters learn to do at the first month interning and then keep as essential skill throughout career: jump & run to the biggest newsmaker. "Newsmaker" is not necessarily the one who won or about to win. It's more about who would generate the biggest ratings/improve circulation or, more recently, produce clicksand likes. Nothing personal! It would surprise nobody that Johannes Klaebo and Frida Karlsson were by far the most popular today. It could be about that suspense: participation of either in Ski Tour was under question till last moment, - but it would not be the whole truth. The brands " Klaebo" and "Karlsson" are currently among the strongest in skiing and are comparable only to rising " Bolshunov " brand and that…

New Study: Skiers 30% Less Likely To Develop Parkinson’s Disease

Newsfeed, Travel & Mass Sport
Good news: long-distance skiers are significantly less likely to develop Parkinson's disease than matched non-skiers, says new complex study . Scientists in Sweden analyzed medical records of nearly 200,000 long-distance skiers who took part in the Vasaloppet cross-country ski race. They established that a physically active lifestyle is associated with close to a 30% reduced risk for PD, which might be explained by a motor reserve among the physically active. https://www.iospress.nl/ios_news/long-distance-skiers-may-have-motor-reserve-that-can-delay-onset-of-parkinsons-disease/

One million kronas or, roughly, 100.000 euros. That's what Therese Johaug got for her participation in the Landskampen television program as per Petter Northug who also took part (but, allegedly, got nothing for his effort as he's already on contract). The Swedish Expressen published an interview with the Norwegian superstar ahead of the program's debut in Sweden. Landskampen has already run on TV2 in Norway last year with great primetime ratings and was renewed for next season. Now the show's 8 installments will be aired on TV4 in Sweden. In the same interview Northug says that other participants got roughly 20000 euros for making an appearance and that the show's production schedule was significantly tightened because of Johaug's commitments elsewhere. Landskampen's executive producer Anders Sæther, however, rejects Northug's assertions: "Figures…

Alex Bolshunov Winter Victory Metal Is Forged In Summer

Leaders, Newsfeed
Winter victory metal is forged in summer. That or similar your coach probably used to tell you. And he was right. We couldn't stop telling you that at the top level money affect who wins: Norway, Russia and Sweden invest the most - and they win the most. Dedication and smart planning certainly helps. Case in point: while the rest went home to celebrate Christmas, the Russian team had an intense training camp in Toblach - and training on the same tracks where you about to compete always helps. But the core of the matter remains unchanged since the days of Gunde Svan ( and probably much beyond that): you have to train a lot. Time and again, through summer, autumn and winter we were lucky to observe how much…
