Jessica Löschke injured her leg badly in training accident in Oberwiesenthal, the local media reports. A German Junior Team member's pole snapped while bounding with a broken tip piercing the flesh so deep that local paramedics couldn't remove it. Löschke, 20, had to be airlifted to the clinic in Dresden where trauma specialists performed an emergency surgery. " Jessica was very lucky - neither key blood vessels, nor nerves were damaged " team doctor Tom Kastner told German media. Löschke is one of the big up & coming talents in the German team - even if the Juniors' World at home in Oberwiesenthal didn't exactly go her way this March. Wish Jessica a speedy recovery and comeback to the tracks! New Competition Format Tested, Shows Serious Promise

New Competition Format Tested, Shows Serious Promise

Newsfeed, Trivia
Let's not beat around the bush: The international skiing authorities and main stakeholders are deeply concerned by an acute lack of sh*t -talking and cat-fighting in cross-country skiing, those essential elements of the " Ratings Game" in the current environment. The utter lack of sex scandals, "wardrobe malfunctions" or, at the very least, public boyfriend swapping, contributres to the falling ratings as viewers and sponsors flock to new " hawt" sports such as bog snorkeling or intimate doll rafting ( yes, there IS such a sport!) The rescue came from the East, of course. An ambitious cable-making start-up YuYeYuan CheSeal VeryBest UnLimited has offered its hi-end cables and a considerable amount of renminbi, provided an international competition featuring its products and bearing its name is organized. Being the biggest profile…

Introducing My Sponsor: Katharina Hennig And Nudossi

Word of introduction: Top flight skiers all got sponsors - and their logos grace their racing suits and warm-up clothing. The most prestigious place is, arguably, the one on headgear - at the risk of stating the obvious, that what's gets to be seen the most on TV. The Scandinavians and the Russians firmly reserve that place for the team's overall top sponsor, so all the skiers wear identical hats and headbands. The " Continentals" and the North Americans have different traditions - that's the place reserved for an athlete's individual sponsor. Allow us to be blunt: in these trying times for many a business, we want that relationship between skiers and their sponsors to endure. One way for us to assist would be by providing our platform for athletes to…

...Financial markets are falling, coronavirus continues its spread - oh, and the winter was an utter piss-poor affair in most of the key markets. But life goes on, there is a hope that one day humanity will go back en masse to the most noble of winter sports, that of cross country skiing. When it happens, young ladies & gentlemen who now compete in Juniors shall become talk of the town. With that in mind, let's take a look at the just finished World Juniors & U23 championships in Oberwiesenthal. Good: Winners' pallet is possibly the most diverse ever. There are used to be surprising champions because the level of competition was similar to mom&pop affair on church weekend with participants having to wax their own skis - situation favoring…

Gear News: Unusual Brands At Juniors World In Oberwiesenthal

Gear News: Unusual Brands At Juniors World In Oberwiesenthal

Gear News, Newsfeed
Apologies for starting with the obvious: most of the top athletes compete & win at the Juniors/ U23 World Championships using exactly the same brands as their older comrades in the FIS World Cup. In professional sport best prospects are signed early in hope of seeing them win the Olympics and the World Cups one day. That's something only large companies with serious sponsorship budgets could afford. Not every large company is willing to invest in many junior, however and not every gear manufacturer is willing to sponsor grown-up world-class athletes with their ,well, fairly grown-up appetites. That essentially means the Juniors at Oberwiesenthal are, among other things, are anextremely unusual face-off: The equipment produced by second-tier manufacturers (basically, those who can't afford Klaebo or Bolshunov) is put against larger,…
