Ebba Andersson Gets Sixten Jernberg Award

Leaders, Newsfeed
At 21 Ebba Andersson got many an accolade for her performances - and now she gets one of Swedish skiing' most prestigious awards ( if not the most prestigious) The Sixten Jernberg Prize is a Swedish peculiarity, honoring the athlete with the best performance in internal competitions, regardless of his/ her performance internationally. Therefore the list of winners is a mixture of world famous names - Stina Nilsson won it in 2015, Charlotte Kalla in 2007, Thomas Wassberg and Gunde Svan have also made during their respective careers - and those who shined in Sweden in only.

Trimtex Makes Leap Into Top League By Signing Frida Karlsson

Gear News, Newsfeed
Let's not mince words: Frida Karlsson is a personality the xcskiing world badly needed - and now got. A combination of the Swede's fierceness on the track and a disarming smile of a teenager ( yes, she's still 19 as of this writing) will bring the august sport of narrow planks on snow millions of fans both now - and in a foreseeable future. Or, to make it more modern sounding, she's the hottest influencer in the sport since Johannes Klaebo started to show what he's capable of a couple of years ago. Klaebo Has Not Signed Agreement With National Team – And Deadline Is Looming

World's best male skier (do we need to say the name?) still has not signed a contract with the Norwegian national team - and June 10th deadline is looming. Bone of contention: social media and, more specifically, advertising & promoting on social media. The sides (Johannes does not get involved - he is represented by his father and manager, Haakon Klæbo, as always) don't want to comment beyond that. It's clear, however, that whatever boundary between "Klaebo being himself" and "Klaebo being part of the national team " they eventually find, it will serve as yardstick to all future contracts for all Norwegian skiers - and possibly beyond. Case in point: on this photo from the World Cup in Davos Johannes is seen wearing a jacket with all the team…

Almost half, actually. When Charlotte Kalla herself triumphed in the second edition of Tour de Ski, spectacularly overtaking then-leader Virpi Kuitinen on the final Alpe Cermis climb, she took home almost 100.000 Swiss franks as the series winner. TdS Winner-2019, Ingvild Flugstad Östberg, was rewarded with CHF 55,000 - almost half. "The TdS prize money needs to be raised because it is less for a victory in the tour now than when I won eleven years ago.... I think the money is definitely important factor" triple Olymoic champion told Swedish TT news agency Quite a few top skiers, including hot favorite Therese Johaug, season's sensation Ebba Andersson and, indeed, Kalla herself chose to skip TdS 2018/19.
