Same Rollerskis For Everyone In Competitions Or Different? Now We Ask World’s Best Ski Marathoners

Leaders, Newsfeed
This is Part 2 of our questionnaire: See here what rollerski marathon organizers had to say Today is a turn of some of the world's best marathoners - both on skis and rollerskis - to weigh in on the issue. Some rollerski races follow the rules of winter skis i.e. each racer performs on individually chosen and prepared skis. Others ( e.g. Blink, Allianslopper, recent Fiemme Rollerski Cup) go the opposite way: every member of the elite performs on identical rollerskis provided by a sponsor thus evening out the field somewhat What is a right way in your opinion? Which of the two options above you prefer when competing? =============================================================== Anders Aukland, Olympic & world champion, Vasaloppet winner: - If we want high-profile World Cup long distance skiers to participate , then…

The anticipation of the CAS verdict on Therese Johaug case have eclipsed another event of note in Norwegian skiing: Petter Eliassen is back! Well, kind of. For those of our readers, who are not following the ski marathons as closely as they deserve to be followed, a quick reminder: Eliassen is, arguably, the strongest long distance skier of the last five seasons. Money & Finance, Newsfeed
... A couple of weeks ago we talked about financial success of the Engadin ski marathon , opining that the Swiss marathon's money making capacity is second only to the Mother of all ski marathons, Vasaloppet. Sure enough, the organizers of the Swedish multi-event did the math for 2017 and have announced that the Vasaloppet-2017 generated a turnover of SEK 234.6 million. ( EUR 24 million/USD 28 million) for the three municipalities involved in hosting a 90km race - an increase of almost 10% since 2015 when the last study was conducted ( to be clear, the Swiss report an even higher turnover - but they look at the broader economic effect, countrywide - while Swedish data considers only an impact on local communities) Vasaloppet had long branched out into…
